This is one of the toughest industries to work in, which is why it’s so important that we all take a moment to look at the conversations we can have with each other to show support. Learn how to have a conversation here. Regular, meaningful conversations can make a difference to our workmates. That’s why the TrackSAFE Foundation and R U OK? team up every year to deliver Rail R U OK? Day in April to encourage genuine conversations between staff. Every day we send over 1000 people to work in the rail industry. This is one of the toughest industries to work in, which is why it’s so important that we all take a moment to look at the conversations we can have with each other to show support. This year as we celebrate Rail R U OK? Day, the current national and international environment places an even greater emphasis on the importance of being there for your mates. We spend a great deal of time with our colleagues, probably even more than our families, so if someone is experiencing difficulty, we are the people most likely to notice. We all go through life’s challenges. Grief, relationship breakdowns, tough times at work or home. But when our relationships are strong, we can spot the signs that someone may be struggling. Take a moment today and reach out with a simple question, “Are you OK?” A few minutes of your time and genuine care, has the potential to change someone’s life, and help to create a stronger, safe and more supportive rail industry.
