Inclusion + Wellbeing ensures our approach to safety is physical and psychological – addressing the unique risk factors in construction. It also promotes a culture where everyone is included no matter what role they play. Everyone has a voice and should feel empowered to speak up and ‘call it out’ if something doesn’t feel right or could be done differently.
We are delighted to have been awarded the Mental Health Matters award for our 5 Ways to Wellbeing campaign in Australia. The campaign is centred on a set of five evidence based health messages about the kinds of activities that people can do that are known to improve mental health and wellbeing.
Following an extensive review across the Australia hub we have made significant improvement to our Fatal and Severe Risk Standards. This review reflects the events that have occured over the past 12 months and has involved subject matter experts involved in the work activities from all areas including our supply chain and clients.

This year’s World Mental Health Day is set amidst the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. 2020 has been challenging for us all and perhaps even more so for those who are already suffering with mental health conditions as they may be experiencing greater social isolation than ever before.
We know that many of you are juggling different responsibilities at the moment and understand that at times you will need to design your day differently. To support you and your family, our COVID working group has designed a suite of resources and wellbeing support services which are now available for all our people in Victoria, and I encourage you all to take advantage of these.
As we all move through these challenging times together, parents, carers and teachers have the added responsibility of supporting the children in their care to deal with rapid change and uncertainty. Mindfulness is an active, practical and helpful tool to help adults and children alike manage the challenges many of us are currently facing.
2020 has been an incredibly challenging year for us all, bringing drastic changes to our way of life, placing an even greater emphasis on the importance of supporting one another and being there for our mates.
